Abstract

My paper makes a modest academic endeavour to conceptualise and study different perspectives of homeland, imaginary homeland, predicaments of migration, sensibilities of the migrants, and issues of identity in diaspora as delineated in Salman Rushdie’s Imaginary Homelands (1992) and Kiran Desai’s The Inheritance of Loss (2006). These two texts of Salman Rushdie and Kiran Desai are very significant to understand various issues and aspects pertaining to the Indian diaspora as the two writers are part of the Indian diaspora group, and they have very closely watched and experienced the diasporic predicaments and sensibilities.
